This is my first attempt at a game report, so bear with me on this one. I just joined at Realms Beyond, and tried this game out. Details for the game are here

Unfortunately, I started this thing about 9 or 10 days before report day, so I ran out of time for my report. I was writing the report as I went, and about 3 or 4 days until closing I realized I wasn't going to make it in time, so this report is somewhat unfinished, meaning it's missing all but the endgame details of the second half of the game, but the game is finished. Just figured I'd warn you ahead of time.

So anyways, lets get started. After thinking it over for a minute or so, I decided to found on the starting spot. Maybe moving 1N would've been the better option to avoid wasting tiles, but I figured I could plop a little fishing village up there later, and I wanted as many floodplains as possibe in my Capital's fat cross, for when I got to bureaucracy  (there looked to be more down south, sure enough there were). Health shouldn't be a big issue since it's only noble, and financial civ + floodplains + cottages = ridiculous tech rate, especially on Noble. I go exploring with my warrior and build a warrior first. My original warrior popped some gold from the first hut, no big deal. My warrior finishes in Timbuktu, I go worker next (for cottages). My original warrior sees another hut, and pops it, only to find:

Wow, that's pretty cool... I later regretted not building stonehenge when I had the chance (it was noble, I could've had it easily), but it wasn't a major loss. My two warriors continue exploring, original heads straight south, the other one heads along the far east coast (I apologize for the lack of a screenshot here, it's my first try and I kept forgetting, I'll remember next time). I finish writing and my worker in 3040 BC, start on a settler and continue down the pre-selected research path. As my warriors continue exploring I see a couple other huts, but got 40g and a map from those two, so no more lucky breaks for me. I meet:

We sign Open Borders. I finish Mathematics in 2240 BC, and a couple turns later meet:

By now I have my first settler out, and am ready to found my second city:

I guess only time will tell whether it was a stupid decision to not put this city on the coast. My reasons was: this was the only spot where I could get all 3 gold tiles in my fat cross. This would make a good commerce  city without sacrificing too much production. I'll be interested to see what everyone else does with this spot... Anyways, we get the Largest Civs in the World update and:

We're first... Washington is doing pretty terrible, and my starting warrior discovers why:

Washington itself isn't half-bad, with food resources and plains hills, but having the ice hurts it, plus the rest of the land around washington is pretty awful.

nothing really happens for a bit until 1560 BC when i finally get Currency :)

I choose polytheism next because Hinduism was STILL wide-open... this definitely confused me, you would think it would be taken by now. I'm almost positive no one in the game starts with mysticism or is spiritual (either that or I'm not used to the slowness of the AI on Noble). Hinduism is FIADL just a couple turns after I start it, but I go ahead and finish off polytheism so I can make a run at Judaism. With one turn left in the Monotheism research, check out this painful picture:

Definitely disappointing, but far from the end of the world, Confucianism is just around the corner and I'm teching away quite fast now, so I go for Code of Laws next for Confucianism, and finish first:

Look at the scores, it was Washington who got Buddhism, it was Huayna who stole Judaism from me, and now I'm going to be the founder of Confucianism... something tells me we're not exactly going to be sitting in a circle singing Kumbayah...

I convert to Confucianism and one whole turn later:

 That sure didn't take long...

So anyways, I've gotten off to a decent start, my tech rate is very high between towns on the floodplains for Timbuktu and having cottaged Djenne's floodplains and mined the gold... Anyways click here to continue.
